Swedish parkland

Gothenburg, Sweden

2009

In keeping with our reputation of creating new gardens in historic settings, we were commissioned to work as part of the team at Scandinavia’s largest tourist destination and created a design which included water features. Originally a landscaped park and now owned by the City of Gothenburg, Liseberg is loved by all Swedish people as the definitive pleasure park. Designers such as Alvar Aalto have contributed buildings and famous performers such as The Rolling Stones, ABBA and the Beatles have performed here.

The landscape that has been created is on the steep hillside overlooking the city and includes aerial bridges, extensive tree and forest planting and a succession of water features including a dramatic waterfall at the bottom of the hill. The park is open to visitors during the summer months and at Christmas.
